Through Art and Design, Moor Park aims to develop pupil knowledge and their understanding of the world around them. We inspire, challenge and equip them with the confidence and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. Art combines the development of ideas and concepts through to exploration and feelings, thus helping to educate the ‘whole’ child emotionally, aesthetically, spiritually, intellectually and socially. It fires their imagination and is a fundamental means of personal expression; Art can be a very useful tool to encourage and celebrate pupils’ sensory exploration and development. Due to the nature of the Arts and its diversity there is no right or wrong way to create a piece of artwork: therefore, our pupils can gain confidence and a feeling of achievement to everything that they design and create. As pupils progress their growing artistic knowledge and understanding, these skills can be transferred across the curriculum to aid learning in others areas of school and beyond.
