We have been working hard using number lines to help us with our multiplication. There has been lots of peer coaching and collaborative learning! 

The children from 3HJ and 5NT are thoroughly enjoying working together as reading buddies.

Hands on animals came to visit Year 6 this week. We had an amazing time handling bugs, insects and other animals. We had to be very brave and we learned a lot of interesting facts. 

Year 6 children took part in a Taste Investigation to see what type of taster they were. 

These two questions were posed by the children, "What happens when I eat?" "Why do I like certain foods and not others?"

In Y6, the children have been coaching each other on some of the areas in maths that they identified were difficult.

A team of children prepared the questions and answers and were on hand to support as the remaining children worked on solving the maths challenges.

This week Y6 have been preparing for their SATS. We have written Top Tips for Success in each subject and made our own Diamond Nine to remember them. In SPAG we have used picture books as a starting point for writing our own SATS style SPAG questions.

One of our boys from Year 6 attended an awards evening at Blackpool Sixth Form College.

He was awarded a certificate and a trophy for his nomination of KS2 Scientist 2017.

Mrs Jefferson gave us some lolly sticks, elastic bands and plastic spoons and challenged us to make a working catapult. We really enjoyed the challenge and hope you enjoy looking at our catapults. We are going to test them to find out the answer to a number of questions.

We had lots of fun this afternoon challenging each other to some seated fencing matches. The children have enjoyed the Sport 4 Champions programme delivered by Sport Blackpool this half term.

Year 6 have produced some excellent writing based around The Silver Sword which is our novel this half term. Enjoy reading!
